SynGRID at the EEM26 Conference in Trondheim

SynGRID was present at the 21st International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM26), held in Trondheim, Norway, from 22 to 24 June 2026. The conference is one of the leading European venues for research on electricity markets, energy policy, and power systems, bringing together academics, industry, and system operators.

The project was represented through two contributions written by SynGRID partners.

In the session “Digital solutions for energy systems,” Sanja Kelemen from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT) presented the paper “Performance Assessment of Energy Communities with a Focus on Increasing Number of Participants.” The work examines how the size and composition of an energy community affect its economic and environmental performance, showing that the mix of participants matters as much as the total number. It is a joint effort between FERIT Osijek, Institute for Innovation and Development of the University of Ljubljana (IRI UL), and National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

During Poster Session, Marina Dubravac alo from FERIT Osijek presented the poster “Techno-economic Analysis of PV Active Power Curtailment in Active Distribution Networks.” The poster addresses a challenge facing many low-voltage grids as rooftop solar expands: how to keep the network within safe operating limits without relying on costly reinforcements. The session offered a good opportunity for direct exchange with other researchers on the topic. The work brings together FERIT Osijek, the University of Zagreb, and IRI UL.

Both contributions reflect SynGRID’s aim of strengthening research collaboration across widening countries on low-voltage grid management, and its focus on connecting partners from Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, and beyond.
