Institute for Innovation and Development of University Ljubljana
IRI’s mission is to identify economic research and development (R&D) needs, to assess the competencies of the researchers of the University of Ljubljana (UL), to develop and manage R&D projects that protect UL’s intellectual property, to act as a catalyst for industry and business partnerships and to translate R&I results into commercial applications for public use and benefit.
Role: IRI serves as the project’s coordinator and leader of the WP1, WP4 and WP5. They are also innovation providers of the solutions developed in their previous projects (MARKETFLEX, grid planning).
Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS)
The aim of the ICCS is to promote the R&D in different research disciplines: telecommunication systems and computer systems and their applications in electric power systems, software and hardware engineering, control systems and biomedical engineering.
Role: ICCS will play a central role in shaping the project’s assessment framework (leading WP2) while actively engaging in and making substantial contributions to capacity building and knowledge transfer initiatives. Furthermore, the institute will be a key participant in the project’s dissemination and communication efforts and other horizontal activities.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) is the largest technical faculty and a leading educational and research institution in the fields of electrical engineering, computing and information and communication technology in Croatia. The number of international and national projects in the last five years makes FER one of the most active institutions in Croatia, both internationally and nationally.
Role: FER will be the most active in the field of pilot preparation, institutional capacity building and R&I collaboration. They will lead the corresponding WP3. Their input and access to a country specific data will be crucial also in WP4 when building regional innovation capacity.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT) is the regional leader in the field of electrical engineering, computer science and information and communications technologies. It strategically aims at advancing its visibility and competitiveness in science and research, professional projects, students’ education in close cooperation with the economy and local community.
Role: Like FER, the majority of FERIT’s work will be in the WP3 and WP4 where they will be fully involved in all collaboration and preparation activities. They will also be responsible for regulation and policy impact analyses.
Petrol
PET, the leading Slovenian energy company, is growing from the established Slovenian oil trader to a comprehensive regional energy service company (ESCO), provider of energy and environmentally friendly services. The company provides a range of integrated solutions in the fields of deep energy renovation of public buildings, district energy systems, water supply systems, efficient lighting, energy management, demand-side integration and mobility.
Role: PET will mainly bring to the project their experience with pilot site investment and expertise with setting up and managing the pilot site intended for replication. They will provide technology and IT insight related to that from an economic point of view. As a result of their prior experience in operating pilot sites, they will also play a crucial role in preparing the pilot case in Croatia as part of the anticipated ERDF proposal.
