SynGRID partners publish research on Low-Voltage (LV) network optimization
SynGRID partners from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT) have published a new scientific paper titled “Co-Simulation Model for Determination of Optimal Active Power Filters Settings in Low-Voltage Network“. The paper was featured in the journal Applied Sciences in January 2025 and addresses critical challenges in power quality, presenting an innovative approach to optimizing active power filter (APF) settings in low-voltage networks.
The study introduces a co-simulation model that integrates optimization algorithms with power network simulation tools. By employing the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, the model identifies the optimal placement and configuration of APFs based on daily variations in loads and harmonics. The results, derived from data on a real radial low-voltage distribution network, demonstrate that this method can significantly improve power quality while considering technical and economic constraints.
The SynGRID project continues to lead in delivering practical solutions for modern power systems, contributing to a more stable and sustainable energy future. Read the full paper here.
