Workshop “From Research to Market – Tools for Successful Technology Transfer”
The workshop “From Research to Market – Tools for Successful Technology Transfer” was held on 22 October 2025 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT). It was organised by the Office for Scientific and Professional Projects of FERIT in cooperation with UNICO.Analytics s.r.o. The event took place in the Faculty Council Hall from 09:00 to 13:30 and brought together 40 participants, including researchers, project managers, and administrative staff involved in research and innovation activities.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of academic and support staff in the field of technology transfer and commercialisation of research results. It focused on providing participants with practical tools and hands-on knowledge to help bridge the gap between research and the market. Through a series of interactive presentations, group exercises, and discussions, participants explored the process of technology transfer, the development of commercialisation strategies, intellectual property management, and market entry planning.

Experts from UNICO.Analytics s.r.o. guided the sessions, combining theory with real-world examples and practical exercises. Participants were encouraged to analyse their own research results and to consider pathways for commercialization, including patenting, licensing, and spin-off creation. The workshop also featured simulation exercises, where participants practiced negotiation and communication skills relevant to technology transfer scenarios.
Throughout the event, participants showed a high level of engagement and openness to share their experiences. The workshop created a stimulating environment for discussion on challenges and opportunities related to commercialization within higher education institutions. The interactive approach allowed for tailored feedback and fostered an exchange of perspectives between researchers and research support staff.
Feedback from participants indicated that the workshop significantly improved their understanding of intellectual property protection, commercialization processes, and collaboration with industry partners. Many participants expressed appreciation for the practical orientation of the sessions and the opportunity to apply newly gained knowledge immediately in group work and discussions.
Overall, the workshop successfully achieved its objectives and contributed to building institutional capacity for research commercialization and innovation management. It provided participants with actionable insights and tools that can support the future development of technology transfer practices at FERIT and partner institutions.
As a next step, workshop materials and resources will be shared with all participants to support the continued application of the discussed tools. The positive response and active participation demonstrated the clear interest in further training initiatives of this kind, suggesting that similar workshops could be organised regularly to maintain momentum and strengthen cooperation between academia and industry.
