From Plans to Real-World Impact: SynGRID at the ROAD3P Event

At the ROAD3P “Transfer of Good Practices” event, event, held on 9 January in Slovenia, SynGRID’s coordinator Institute for Innovation and Development of University of Ljubljana showcased SynGRID as a successful Horizon Europe project, presenting results, lessons learned, and what it takes to turn research into action for the energy transition.

The event was dedicated to highlighting Horizon Europe – Cluster 5 projects and their concrete results. During the session, IRI UL’s colleague dr. Edin Lakic presented a portfolio of Horizon Europe projects addressing key challenges of the green transition, including:

  • EBENTO – boosting energy efficiency in buildings through an integrated one-stop-shop for Energy Performance Contracting (EPC)
  • STREAM – unlocking small-scale flexibility and connecting it to wholesale electricity markets
  • OPENTUNITY – opening the electricity ecosystem to enable real decarbonisation opportunities
  • HAVEN EU – developing hybrid energy storage solutions for long-duration storage and multi-service grid support
  • ECOLOOP – optimising renewable energy use in rural areas to foster a sustainable and circular economy

The event concluded with a roundtable discussion among project implementers, focusing on writing competitive project proposals, effective project implementation, and sharing lessons learned and good practices from Horizon Europe.

Events like this highlight the importance of knowledge exchange, collaboration, and practical experience in translating EU research into tangible societal and market impact. Proud to be part of a project making a difference.
