SynGRID Mobility Exchange: FERIT PhD Researchers Visit IRI UL in Ljubljana

From 1st to 27th of February, SynGRID supported a mobility exchange between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT) and the Institute for Innovation and Development of University of Ljubljana (IRI UL).

During the visit, Sanja Kelemen and Helena Bošnjak (PhD researchers at FERIT Osijek) joined the IRI UL research environment to exchange knowledge, collaborate with researchers, and make concrete progress on topics central to the energy transition and smarter distribution grids.

Sanja’s work focuses on optimal management of prosumer energy systems within energy communities, enabling higher integration of renewables and improving flexibility at the distribution level. Helena’s research addresses distribution network hosting capacity under increasing renewable integration, tackling practical challenges such as voltage rise, overloading, and stability issues.

Beyond the research activities, the mobility also strengthened professional connections and offered the opportunity to experience Ljubljana and Slovenia’s cultural and natural highlights.

We published separate reflections from each researcher, where they share their research focus, what they advanced during the exchange, and their impressions of IRI UL and Slovenia.
